Stockholm Stadsbibliotek

Opened in 1928, Stockholm Stadsbibliotek was the most modern library in Europe. The library was the first in Sweden to have open bookshelves where patrons could pick their own books.

Now that the building’s installations have reached the end of their useful life, Stockholm Stadsbibliotek will undergo a technical refurbishment. Exengo has been entrusted with the development of another of Stockholm’s most important buildings with expertise in electrical systems, lighting, telecommunications and security systems.

Stockholm Stadsbibliotek is a blue-listed building. The project places great demands on restoring the house to its former state. One of the project’s major changes is the relocation of the book robot, which will be moved to the basement to make room for a new children’s library.
