National Arena 3

In Arenastaden, Fabege is building Sweden’s first zero-energy hotel and together with Nordic Choice Hotels the 11-storey building will contain 338 hotel rooms, 88 long-stay apartments, a restaurant, conference facilities and the Swedish headquarters of Nordic Choice Hotels. The hotel building must comply with “Zero Energy”, which means that the building’s annual energy production exceeds the building’s annual building energy use on an annual basis.

The basic principle for successfully achieving the Zero Energy Ambition is that the building should be primarily energy efficient so that low energy performance is achieved. To that end, the architecture, construction and installations of the building have been designed in accordance with the methods and principles used to build a passive house. Then, a photovoltaic park of 2500 square meters will be installed on the building (distributed over the roof, facade and lantern) and it will produce energy that exceeds the energy consumption of the building. In addition to the Zero Energy ambition, Nationalarenan 3 will also be certified according to BREEAM-SE , level Excellent, and Feby 18 , level GOLD.

Exengo has been the main energy coordinator responsible for developing the “Zero Energy” concept for the Nationalarenan 3 project in the program and system action phase.
